本片為先鋒導(dǎo)演寺山修司遺作;偏遠(yuǎn)隔絕的日本山村，財主時任家的少爺大作（原田芳雄飾）偷走村里所有住戶的鐘，將其埋在地下。從此，村中失去時間的概念，止步不前。多年之后，大作的堂弟舍吉（山崎努飾）和堂妹惠子（新高けい子飾）結(jié)婚，然而惠子的父親當(dāng)年為防止不倫之事而給女兒戴上了貞操帶?；楹蠖嗄辏峒蚱抟蛐允律鯙榭鄲?，而舍吉也因沒有子女而被村人嘲笑。某天，憤怒的舍吉忍無可忍，刺死了嘲笑他的大作。在此之后，夫妻二人選擇逃亡，不過最終還是返回了村中。從此，舍吉便經(jīng)常能夠看到大作的鬼魂，并漸漸開始忘卻周遭事物的名稱，心性失常。在這個恍如孤島的村落，怪誕的事情接連發(fā)生，從未停止

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
