坂上也寸志,グロリア?ゾーナ,坪內(nèi)ミキ子,藤山浩二,佐伯勇,笠原玲子,吉田義夫,八並映子,アーリン?ゾーナ,夏木章,三夏伸,九段吾郎,井上大吾,喜多大八,中原健共に海洋學(xué)者を父に持つ健一とヘレンは父親と一緒に謎の飛行物體が海に降りるところを目撃する。４人はボートで現(xiàn)場へ向かったが、突然海中からの光線を浴びて見知らぬ場所へと連れ去られてしまう。そこは宇宙船の中であった?，F(xiàn)われた女性は自らをジグラ星人と名乗り、自分達の優(yōu)れた科學(xué)力を証明するためと言って彼らの目の前で東京にマグニチュード１３の大地震を発生させた。未曾有の大災(zāi)害中、ジグラ星人は人類に降伏を要求した。海に住むジグラ星人は、自分達の星の海を公害で汚してしまったために移住先として美しい海を持つ星を探し、４８０光年離れた地球を見つけたのだと言う。ジグラは海を占領(lǐng)するだけでなく人類を食料にしようと目論んでいるのだ。子供達は宇宙船からなんとか脫出したが、彼らを追ってジグラ星人を名乗る女性も上陸した。一方、ガメラの火炎攻撃を受けた宇宙船は爆発し、海中を飛ぶように移動する銀色の怪獣が現(xiàn)われた。これが本當(dāng)のジグラ星人の姿であった。母星との水圧の違いからジグラは見る間に巨大化する。ガメラは戦いの場をジグラが苦手とする地上に移すが、光線の連射を浴びて海中に倒れてしまった。身動き一つできないガメラ。防衛(wèi)軍の攻撃ではジグラに対して全く効果がない。最後の希望としてガメラを救助に向かった健一達４人も、逆にジグラに１萬メートルの日本海溝へと引き摺り込まれてしまった。４人を人質(zhì)に取られた防衛(wèi)軍総司令は遂に降伏を決意した……?！ ∈聦g上、昭和ガメラシリーズの最終話となる第７作。鴨川シーワールドとのタイアップにより、海中以外のシーンの大半はシーワールド內(nèi)のものである。ただしジャイガーの時ほど制作費は掛けられなかったため、戦闘シーンも海中と海岸に限られ、街中のシーンがないのが殘念であった。ストーリーとしては、同時期に公開された東寶の『ゴジラ対ヘドラ』と同じく、海の汚染を大きな柱とし、公害の恐ろしさを訴えた作品であるが、対ギロンや対ジャオガーと比べて內(nèi)容に若干まとまりがなく、個々の展開も妙にあっさりしている感がある。相手の動きを止めることで簡単に宇宙船から脫出できたシーンや、４人を人質(zhì)に取られただけで現(xiàn)場の司令が全人類を代表して簡単にジグラに降伏してしまうところなど、當(dāng)時の子供達でも“冗談じゃない”と思ったはずである。もっとも子供を人質(zhì)に取られると人類全部が降伏してしまうのはガメラシリーズの特徴でもあり、“子供の命は地球より重い”を貫いているとも言えるが……。シリーズの他の作品と比較して特徴的なのは、ジグラ星人に操られた女性役を演じる八並映子の存在である。ビキニで街中を駆け回るシーンは當(dāng)時の小學(xué)生には隨分と刺激的であり、月面基地で研究にあたる地質(zhì)學(xué)者とは到底思えなかった。結(jié)果的に最終話となってしまったが、それは制作元の大映の倒産という不測の事態(tài)によるものであって、これを作成した時點ではガメラシリーズ自體は続きを作る予定であったため、特にシリーズ最終回を彩るものはない。これ以後、およそ９年後の『宇宙怪獣ガメラ』まで、またオリジナルと言う點では２４年後の『ガメラ 大怪獣空中決戦』までガメラは子供達の前からその勇姿を隠すのであった。

The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
